The Challenge

This foundational research now plays a pivotal role in driving both short- and long-term decisions, balancing commercial priorities with social impact.

What We Did

We began by identifying 7 core profiles, with 15 sub-profiles, to map out the diverse stakeholder landscape. Through a series of online workshops with the team and wider stakeholders, we prioritised the research objectives and executed the project across three phases.

In each phase, we confirmed research goals, designed tailored questionnaires, and developed a strategic sourcing and engagement plan to ensure robust participation. By analysing findings at every stage, we maintained agility, allowing us to adapt and refine our approach as we progressed.

To capture a comprehensive picture, we conducted 40 in-depth interviews and leveraged Cluso, an AI-powered voice survey tool, to gather insights from hard-to-reach groups. This multi-method approach ensured we delivered actionable, well-rounded insights to inform Wessex Archaeology’s strategy.

What Tectonic delivered

Wessex Archaeology uncovered critical insights, including the perception among some key stakeholders that the organisation was viewed more as a commercial entity than a charitable one. Additionally, the research revealed striking findings from the stakeholder profiles.

By transforming qualitative data into quantifiable themes, we enabled the leadership team to present compelling evidence to the board, supporting strategic decisions that will shape the organisation’s direction for the next three years.
